On October 19, the Eastern and Southern Africa Region (ESAR) RCCE Media Dialog focused on the Ebola outbreak in East Africa and featured Dr. Richard Kabanda, Uganda’s Acting Commissioner Health Services in charge of Health Promotion, Education and Health Communication. Dr. Kabanda provided participants with the latest data on the Ebola outbreak, while Silvia Sommoriva from UNICEF, shared the latest community conversations, misinformation, and rumors on social media that UNICEF and other groups are tracking in the ESAR region on the Ebola outbreak.
In this webinar, we also shared public service announcement videos on Ebola produced by Viral Facts Africa, a group that uses social media to fight health mis- and disinformation and to fill information gaps throughout the continent.
