The Internews Earth Journalism Network (EJN) is offering up to 12 story grants for journalists to cover One Health issues in the Asia-Pacific region, with the support of the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida). The grants aim to raise awareness of the interconnectedness of human, animal, and ecosystem health.
Topics journalists may explore include, but are not limited to: the human, animal and environmental health impacts of:
- Climate change / biodiversity loss
- Zoonotic and vector-borne diseases
- Heavy metal contamination
- Antimicrobial resistance
- Foodborne diseases
- Air pollution
- Harmful algal blooms (HABs)
- Microplastics and persistent organic pollutants, from polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB) to dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane (DDT) used as pesticides
Eligibility is extended to journalists from Southeast Asia, South Asia, East Asia, and the Pacific Islands, with a priority for those from low- and middle-income countries.
Applications are welcomed from journalists working in any medium and at different career stages, with a focus on underreported stories that can influence communities and policymakers.
