September 23: Children, Schools, and the Global Pandemic

When:
September 23, 2021
2:00 pm BST - 3:00 pm BST

Online

Join the Internews Health Journalism Network in partnership with UNICEF India for a one hour long webinar discussing the reopening of schools in India and around the world amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Schools around the globe have opened and closed over the past 18 months due to rising case numbers and infection risks for children and school staff. Despite the risks posed by COVID-19, there is enough evidence that shows the equally devastating consequences of prolonged remote learning and closed schools on children and youth all over the world.

This session aims to encourage journalists to think outside the box when reporting on schools being opened or closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. By encouraging journalists to focus on proactive solutions and move towards solutions-based reporting, overall reportage on schools and education during this time can be improved.
